Decisions, Decisions

I'm trying to finish a small piece for this year's SAQA Benefit Auction.  The "early bird" deadline is next week, so I'm hoping to finish up a piece by this Friday. The two (as of yet unquilted) contenders are below. Which do you prefer, and why? You can see a bigger view if you click on the pictures.

I love them both, but the representational works often sell at a higher price, I've noticed, so the Bird...

What great colors they both have! How will you quilt them?

Hey, Diane! I like the green one with bird - just me, but it looks very spring-y and new-start-ish. :)

I prefer the bird piece also. It is much more in your style, at least what I'm familiar with. The composition is wonderful and the suggestions of birds and leaves are very ethereal.

I love the bird! The colors are wonderful and the design is perfect and draws you in. I can't wait to see it quilted!

I love the bottom piece with the bird and I would bid on it, for sure.

love the bird. But when I looked at the larger image of the top one, I found myself looking longer....there's terrific depth and texture in it. Therefore, quilt 'em both.

I love the blue one.

I love both... The bird piece "looks" like one of yours, however, the abstract one seems to be a new style for you. As with Sue, I love the layers of it and want to know more about the piece and how you did it.

My goodness, this was very interesting! Thank you all for your thoughtful responses.

It's interesting to me that my "style" is now seen by some of you as representational. For years I shied away from it - see Grotto, Bayou Reflections, Aqua Leaves, etc. on my website. I guess I also design plenty of abstract pieces now, but haven't completed one in a while.

I better get cracking if I'm going to finish this by tomorrow! Thanks again.
